Tailwinds Therapy Manifesto

Here at Tailwinds Therapy, we believe in healing. We believe that every person on this earth is worthy of being cared for and nurtured in the process of becoming whole. We believe that connection is at the core of healing and that together we can forge a path to wellness. We believe that fostering deep connections begins with an understanding of the self and an awareness of our own strengths and limitations. We believe in kindness and compassion for all humans, animals, and nature. We believe that you are the master of your own journey, but you do not have to go alone. We believe in learning from one another and asking for help when we need it. We believe in growth without limits and the belief that there is always more to know. We believe that we will make mistakes and that each mistake holds an opportunity if we are willing to see it. We believe in collaboration over competition and that we all have something unique to offer. We believe in gratitude and we value celebrating one another for each step along the way. Above all, we believe that we all deserve a chance to feel heard, to be seen, and to know that we are understood.

Here at Tailwinds Therapy you will find both traditional office-based therapy services as well as a team approach to treating mental health conditions through the use of Equine Assisted Psychotherapy working within the EAGALA model.

Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) is an experiential and solution-focused treatment model that works with a mental health professional, equine specialist, and horses to treat mental health issues. Horses offer instant and incredibly accurate reflections of human emotion without judgement or criticism. This provides clients the opportunity to gain insight about their internal struggles through experiencing the patterns and metaphors that emerge during their interactions with the horses.

EAP is different than therapeutic riding or hippotherapy as it is focused primarily on the treatment of emotional and mental health concerns. All sessions are ground-based and no previous horse or riding experience is necessary to benefit from the sessions.

Because we learn through doing, EAP services often provide clients the chance to grow and change in less time than traditional talk-therapy models; therefore, making it a brief therapy option.

Throughout the website you will find information regarding the types of services, information about fees, policies, FAQ, and more. In the spirit of connection, however, I welcome you to reach out in person to find out how our services can support you in your journey to wellness. I would love to share with you about all there is to offer and to learn more about you!
